Kaeden loved to PLAY OUTDOORS and FISH! Keeping that in mind, we wanted to do something for
our community to thank you for all your support over the last year. We came up with the Family Fishing Day -
a day where families could get together and just enjoy each others company doing things Kaeden loved.
The KBF Family Fishing Day didn't quite start off on a good foot, but thankfully, it did improve as the day went on. About 25 boats launched (or intended to launch) at the Cedar Cove Marina, but only the early risers seemed to be able to get out on the lake. By early morning the skies clouded over, the winds came up, the rain started and the lake got rough. Of the hand full of boats that had tried their luck, rumor has it that only 5 fish were caught. However, the jury is still out, as very few visuals were recorded.
From lake to land, everyone headed to Darren and Maryellen's for an afternoon and evening of fun, food and fish tales. Over 100 children spent the afternoon jumping and playing with "Spiderman", being entertained by "Hoppy" the clown and had their faces painted by an amazing artist.
Although fishing in the morning proved to be less than fortunate, several donations netted us about 60 lbs of fish and saved the day. A delicious meal was enjoyed by over 250 guests of fish, hotdogs and potluck salads and desserts and even a little Jamaican cusine. After dinner, live music from the Rock Collection aka "The Fossils" filled the air for all to listen to.
Although the weather wasn't the best, many smiles were seen on all the kids faces, enjoying a day Kaeden would have dreamed of. We hope everyone had a great day and we thank you for all your support over the past year and continued support.

If you're like me and like catching fish, but not so good at the cleaning part ..... not a problem. If you're back to the marina by 1:00pm, we will have fish cleaning "experts" there to help you out (and if you talk nice to them, they might even do it for you). When your day on the lake is done, please join us back at
Darren and Maryellen's for a fish fry potluck picnic. All that we ask, is that you bring a salad or
dessert, beverages of your choice and chairs if you want to sit. There will be lots games and a
couple surprises for the kids, so be sure to bring them along .. remember, this is a family day.
